The Miss Chicago Organization grieves the passing of Cloris Leachman. As Miss Chicago 1946, Cloris progressed directly to the 20th Miss America pageant. Cloris' talent was a comic sketch named "One Man Radio Program." Earning a spot in the Top 16 at Miss America, Cloris is by far the most famous Miss Chicago. In a career spanning over seven decades, she won nine Emmy Awards and an Academy Award for her role in "The Last Picture Show." Cloris was also well-known for her role as Phyllis Lindstrom on the sitcom The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off, Phyllis. In 2008, Cloris placed seventh on Dancing with the Stars.
We profusely thank Cloris for pioneering for women and illustrating the unlimited opportunities possible for all women fortunate enough to be crowned Miss Chicago. Our thoughts go out to her family and friends. We will be paying tribute to Cloris at Miss Chicago's 100th Anniversary in 2022.
Forever an inspiration, Forever a Miss Chicago.
